What are human rights and why are they important?
Published by the Australian Human Rights commission, this site provides a wealth of information and the updated face the facts teaching resource.
National Human Rights Consultation
This Australian Government website provides the opportunity to hear people’s ideas about human rights and to talk about ways to protect and promote human rights in the future. On a separate website, the independent Human Rights Act.tv people have created an online form to make it easy for young people to contribute to the consultation. ![]()
The Little Red Yellow Black Book
This new book and the online teacher’s resources provide a wide-ranging introduction to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture with clear and simple explanations of subjects such as the importance of country and land rights.

Together for Humanity Foundation
This organisation conducts programs in schools which challenge misconceptions and encourage children to focus on common values. Students engage with Christian, Islamic, Jewish (and, where appropriate, Indigenous) role models as they learn to see past stereotypes to the common humanity and shared values of all people.
ThinkUKnow Australia
is a new website which was launched in February. It is an internet safety program designed to help teachers, carers and parents educate children about safety and encourage them to think before they act online, and a joint initiative of the Australian Federal Police (AFP), the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and Microsoft. Students might wish to enter the short film and poster competitions.
