What's the issue?
Views about the role of young people in society are changing. We now understand that active participation in decision-making by everyone is important for the development of peaceful, tolerant and productive communities. It makes sense, then, that schools use democratic processes to enable all students to have a say in the learning and in the life of the school. Student voice is about students being actively involved in making decisions about what they learn, how they learn, how their learning is assessed and, equally importantly, how their school community operates to support all its members. It is not just about having the chance to give your opinion. It means having the power to influence change.
