Sexuality-based prejudice (including bullying and harassment) is a serious issue for everyone. It locks people into rigid ways of being that inhibit their ability to be themselves.

Everyone knows that it's cool to be yourself, but we also want to know that we fit in and are valued.   However, it's not always easy when there are narrow views of what is normal. We may find ourselves conforming to those norms just to feel accepted and to avoid negative consequences such as being excluded, denied basic rights or abused.

It is in everyone's self-interest to work together to combat prejudice based on sexual identity.

Everyone is an insider, there are no outsiders -
whatever their beliefs, whatever their colour, gender, or sexuality.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, 2004
