Bringing it together

Bring it together

Behavioural and individually focused approaches are important. However even in combination, these do not generate the changes needed to ensure trusting, equitable relationships.

Across all areas of school life, school communities need to critically engage with and debate the underlying issues in order to nurture connected, inclusive communities where there is safety for all.

Understanding these different approaches, with their underlying philosophies and implications, will help school communities to identify and respond to local needs and incorporate changes in balanced and sustainable ways that increase social capital and connectedness for individuals, the school community and the society.

Across Australia, school communities are successfully combining these approaches to change their schools. See Schools in action.
